Blue Yonder Defense Solutions (BYDS) is seeking a Distributed Systems / Integration Architect to lead the design of our next-generation, enterprise-scale platform. The role defines architectural patterns for distributed computing, event-driven systems, and enterprise integration, ensuring scalability, resilience, and interoperability across a complex ecosystem of internal and external systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering with focus on distributed systems architecture.
• Proven experience designing large-scale, distributed, event-driven systems.
• Strong understanding of Java-based microservices architecture and API gateways.
• Deep knowledge of Enterprise Integration Patterns and data flows.
• Experience with cloud-native platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with distributed data stores and data replication.
• Familiarity with messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve reference architecture for distributed, event-driven, and integration-centric systems.
• Design high-throughput, scalable, fault-tolerant data processing systems.
• Architect solutions using Enterprise Integration Patterns for messaging and event workflows.
• Set API design and governance standards; guide service-to-service communication models.
• Leverage cloud-native tooling and IaC for multi-region deployments and DR.
• Define distributed data strategies including event sourcing and CQRS.
• Establish observability strategies with Prometheus/OpenTelemetry/Jaeger.
• Define secure communication patterns (mTLS, zero-trust) and compliance pathways.
• Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, security, and external customers; mentor engineers.
