Job summary

Salem Leasing is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to repair trucks, trailers and related equipment at a Dallas area facility. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and guide technicians to ensure timely, safe repairs.

The ideal candidate has multiple years of diesel maintenance experience, a strong toolset, and the ability to work in extreme temperatures while following DOT/OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• CDL license is preferred.
• Minimum three years of medium/heavy diesel maintenance experience preferred.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Good driving record with proven work history.
• Ability to work in extreme heat and cold temperatures.
• Diagnostic experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
• Repair, reline, replace & adjust brakes.
• Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
• Follow checklists to ensure important parts are examined.
• Plan work procedures using charts, manuals & experience.
• Communicate with drivers to obtain problem descriptions.
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services.
• Repair manual & automatic transmissions.
• Replace & adjust headlights.
• Adhere to safety, DOT and OSHA guidelines.
• Ensure cleanliness of shop & surrounding areas.
