Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) seeks a software/ML engineer to design data pipelines, productionize AI/ML models, and deploy scalable tools for edge inference. You will join an interdisciplinary team and evaluate new technologies to improve performance and reliability of ML systems for enterprise operations.

The role emphasizes CI/CD, documentation, and collaboration with domain experts and management throughout the software lifecycle. DoD clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in CS/IS or related; 4+ years with Bachelor's, 2+ years with Master's; substitution allowed.
• Strong understanding of software development concepts and theory.
• Machine learning development concepts and model development/analysis.
• Experience building end-to-end systems for productionizing AI/ML in distributed environments.
• Ability to adapt quickly to evolving environments and coordinate work phases.
• Excellent communication, documentation, presentation, and teamwork skills; ability to lead less experienced staff.
• Experience with source control, CI/CD, Linux, provisioning tools, package managers, containers and cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one high-level language (C#, C, Python, or Java) and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, Keras, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Automation of data science workflows and tools; willingness to work extended hours; DoD clearance ability.

Responsibilities

• Design data pipelines and AI/ML infrastructure for enterprise ML deployment.
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to productionize ML models for air operations.
• Develop and deploy scalable tools and services for rapid ML training and edge inference.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies to improve ML performance and reliability.
• Apply CI/CD and automation to the ML ecosystem.
• Ensure traceability, version control, data security in model development.
• Develop and deploy proof-of-concept ML systems for warfighter usage.
• Communicate with stakeholders to develop roadmaps and schedules.
