United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Lead, Dev SecOps to own the security pipeline, AI defense operations, and code hardening across the development estate. You will partner with Engineering to embed security throughout software delivery while enabling runtime AI protection for customer-facing features.

Lead a virtual team and build a security champions network to advise the AI Governance Committee. This is a hybrid role in Charlotte, NC/Stamford, CT and requires hands-on technical depth,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Cybersecurity/SE or equivalent.
• 7+ years in application security, DevSecOps, DevOps, or security engineering.
• Proven track record building or maturing a pipeline security program (SAST, DAST, SCA).
• Hands-on CI/CD security tool integration (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Strong knowledge of modern software development practices (Git, containers, IaC, cloud-native).
• Experience enforcing security gates with minimal friction.
• Leadership across development, infrastructure and security teams.
• Mentoring junior security members; strong communication.
• Experience with Snyk, Burp Suite, Aikido or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with AI/ML security concepts and Cisco AI Defense.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end security pipeline: SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets, IaC, container scanning.
• Define and enforce control gates; manage gate policy and exceptions.
• Drive migration of production code into Enterprise GitHub for provenance.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders on reviews, blockers, and friction.
• Establish provenance tagging for AI-generated and third-party code.
• Operate Cisco AI Defense and multi-cloud protection across clouds.
• Provide technical guidance to AI Governance Committee; deliver risk inputs.
• Define AI guardrails policy: data classification, prompt injection defense.
• Oversee phased AI Defense deployment and IAM/SSO integrations.
• Coordinate incident response with SecOps; develop playbooks.
• Lead the DevSecOps Analyst; build security champions network.
• Deliver OWASP-aligned secure code training; run governance sessions.
• Publish program metrics; manage supplier relations.
