Job summary

Savannah Police Department seeks a Criminal Investigator to conduct thorough investigations into felony and misdemeanor offenses within its jurisdiction. The role requires advanced investigative skills, collaboration with patrols, prosecutors, and other agencies, and adherence to policy, state law, and constitutional standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years swor­n law enforcement experience as a Criminal Investigator.
• Current POST certification or ability to obtain Georgia POST certification within required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into major offenses such as robbery, assault, burglary, homicide, narcotics, and financial crimes.
• Respond to crime scenes, coordinate investigative activities, collect evidence, identify witnesses, and interview suspects.
• Prepare comprehensive investigative reports, affidavits, and case files for prosecution.
• Work with District Attorney's Office to prepare cases for court and testify when required.
• Coordinate with state and federal partners on cross-jurisdiction investigations.
