Job summary

The Savannah Police Department is seeking a Part-Time Detective to conduct thorough investigations, collect evidence, and prepare cases for prosecution while offering up to 19 hours per week.

Requires 3+ years sworn law enforcement experience, Georgia POST certification or eligibility, and flexible availability; prior detective experience is advantageous. On-site collaboration with prosecutors and partners is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
• Current Georgia P.O.S.T. certification or eligibility for certification/reinstatement.
• Minimum of three years sworn law enforcement experience; detective experience preferred.
• Flexible availability; some evenings, weekends, or on-call hours may be necessary.

Responsibilities

• Conduct follow-up investigations of assigned criminal cases including property, financial, and crimes against persons.
• Review reports, develop leads, interview victims, witnesses, and suspects.
• Identify and collect evidence; preserve chain of custody; prepare casework for prosecution.
• Coordinate with patrol, crime scene, forensic analysts, and prosecutors; assist in court testimonies.
