Base pay range
$102,600.00/yr - $137,950.00/yr

Your impact
Jacobs is seeking a Lead Designer / Transportation Engineer with experience to support our growing transportation team in Tennessee. You will have the chance to work on exciting and engaging roadway infrastructure projects and utilize your transportation design expertise. You’ll be part of diverse, multi-discipline teams in the delivery of transportation planning and design, and highway design projects. Your experience will give you the ability to lead tasks and/or projects and interface directly with our clients. Responsibilities will include
- Participating in planning, cost development, management, and scheduling for assigned projects.
- Leading the development of solutions to complex problems for municipal roadway projects, including design calculations and quality control
- Using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks, including developing 3D models and performing highway geometry design using OpenRoads
- Coordinating with other disciplines to include bridge, environmental, survey, and traffic
- Coordinating closely with contractors, owners, and discipline leads to drive project success.
- Providing technical guidance to junior engineers to further the team’s professional development

Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee (or ability to attain license within 6 months)
- Department of Transportation (DOT) and Local Public Agency (LPA) project experience
- Demonstrated experience on various types of roadway, traffic, and/or signal design projects including design and plan development of new and rehabilitation highway projects
- Proficiency with MicroStation and Open Roads Designer (ORD) and a variety of transportation engineering analysis and design software
- Understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO design guidelines to transportation projects
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and time management skills
- Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills
Ideally, Here’s What You’ll Also Have
- Familiarity with Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) design manuals and plans preparation
- 2+ years of specific TDOT highway design experience within the last 5 years
- Experience with multi-discipline infrastructure engineering design and construction projects
This is a hybrid role. Ideally, you will work from a local Jacobs Tennessee office on average 2 days per week. Travel for this role is less than 10% per year.

The base salary range for this position is $102,600.00 to $137,950.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
