Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for Large Mining Trucks in Tucson, AZ.
You will lead engine installation and cooling system design, developing innovative solutions that enhance performance, reliability, durability, and serviceability across the LMT portfolio. You will collaborate across powertrain, hydraulics, electronics, structures, and product support teams to deliver integrated solutions and support NPI programs from concept through production.
Qualifications
- Advanced engineering knowledge to solve large mining truck design challenges.
- Ability to evaluate complex systems, interpret test data, and devise practical solutions.
- Knowledge of product design principles and development processes to balance performance, cost, and manufacturability.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of Large Mining Truck engine installation and cooling systems.
- Translate customer and regulatory needs into robust engineering designs and specs.
- Research technologies and identify opportunities for product improvements and cost optimization.
- Coordinate prototype builds, testing, and validation to verify performance and safety.
- Perform root cause investigations using test data and field feedback.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated machine solutions.
