Caterpillar Inc. in Tucson, AZ seeks a Machine Controls Engineer to lead development for the Large Mining Truck product line, shaping control strategies, simulations, and electronic architecture decisions.

You will validate using Virtual Product Development, Software-in-the-Loop, and Hardware-in-the-Loop methods, collaborate across systems, ensure functional safety, and support NTI programs while traveling 5–10% and working on site five days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent education.
• Experience in machine controls requirements development and validation.
• Experience with Matlab, Simulink, Python, Multibody simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze real-world machine operations to define control strategies.
• Develop advanced simulations and trade-off analyses for configurations and control logic.
• Architect the electronic system and influence product planning."
• Lead validation using Virtual Product Development, Software-in-the-Loop, and Hardware-in-the-Loop.
• Field-test machine controls at proving grounds and customer sites; develop risk mitigation plans.
