Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Supervisor, Designing and Drafting, to lead a team responsible for engineering drawings, engineering change orders, and BOM processing. You will guide scope, estimates, and schedule adherence while ensuring quality and compliance with ASME Y14 standards.

You will mentor engineers and drafters, manage data through SolidWorks EPDM, and drive continuous improvement across the group. The role requires extensive CAD experience and strong leadership in a dynamic aerospace

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 10+ years in creation, review, and change management of engineering drawings and technical docs.
• Experience in a team leadership role.
• Deep knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and Y14.5 standards and related GD&T practices.
• Experience with aerospace configuration management practices.
• Experience with diverse drawing types (machined parts, sheet metal, PCB, weldments, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assign drafting resources to projects and resolve resource conflicts.
• Help define scope of work and estimates for projects.
• Assure project progress and escalate technical issues as needed.
• Support drafting releases and revisions with related groups.
• Maintain group standards, processes, and procedures.
• Identify and lead efficiency improvement initiatives.
• Oversee data management systems (e.g., SolidWorks EPDM).
• Identify staffing needs, recruit and mentor team members.
• Conduct staff evaluations and support career development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
