Job summary

Defense Engineering, Inc. seeks an experienced Principal Solutions Architect to join the I3TS team supporting a major Defense program at Fort Belvoir, VA. You will help drive modernization, collaborate with Leidos and government leadership, and ensure secure, scalable IT infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Engineering Management, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program.
• DoW TS/SCI clearance required.
• Experience designing solutions for secure, scalable, on-prem and cloud-based virtualized infrastructures.
• Experience planning and executing migration of applications and services.
• Experience developing and maintaining architecture artifacts and communicating designs to executives and technical stakeholders.
• Experience evaluating new technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve performance, scalability, security and costs.
• Experience operating in a DevSecOps environment of comparable size and complexity.
• Proven written and oral communication skills for all levels of an organization.
• Active TS/SCI Clearance.
• Must possess an active DoW 8570 IAT Level II certification prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Support the I3TS Principal Solutions Architect in identifying service gaps and driving continual innovation to modernize DTRA IT infrastructure.
• Lead analysis of alternatives and proofs of concept to establish projects for targeted improvements.
• Oversee proofs of concept (3 months or less) to provide demonstrable insights into candidate improvements.
• Draft detailed project plans outlining technical approach, cost, schedule, and risks for implementation.
• Collaborate with Leidos and Government stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provide engineering reviews and presentations of analysis results to stakeholders.
