Job summary

adidas in Indianapolis, IN seeks a capable Operations Supervisor to lead a team of up to 50 hourly associates in a fast-paced warehouse. You will use RF guns and WMS to track activities, coach staff, and ensure safety and efficiency, while aligning with SOPs and performance targets.

You will mentor teammates, foster an inclusive team culture, and drive continuous improvement in material flow and customer service. Strong problem-solving in a dynamic environment is essential.

Job description

Purpose: Supports the operations leadership team by contributing to labor allocation, leading meetings, assigning job duties, coaching for success, creating a safe & collaborative work environment, and driving process improvement. The role will be very technical and require strong problem-solving skills. Leads will work closely with department supervisors to monitor work flows, manage dwells, and drive overall shift performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Operation Supervisor to lead a team of up to 50 hourly associates
  • Utilize warehouse tools, including radio frequency hand held units (“RF Guns”) and computer kiosks, to update transactions within the warehouse management system (WMS) and log activities in the Labor Management (LM) module
  • Understand and act as a role model in following all standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Train and coach associates to achieve all operational goals and service levels
  • Mentor and develop teammates to perform better in their current roles while preparing them for future career opportunities
  • Ability to develop and share best practices
  • Help to foster a positive team environment that encourages all associates to provide insights and feedback to improve processes, adapt to an ever-changing business, and stay focused on customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and orderly working environment
  • Identify, report, and follow up on any property damage or safety concerns
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a large group of co-workers

  • Strong knowledge of DC operations, including storage methods and material flow
  • Performance and metrics driven mindset
  • Excel, Outlook, Word and working knowledge of WMS principles
  • Regularly required to talk or hear; stand or walk; use fingers, hands and arms to feel, handle, grip, grasp, lift, push and pull for up to ten (10) hours/day
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment
  • Ability to reliably attend work/scheduled hours
  • Occasionally required to sit; bending, twisting, climb or balance; lift and carry items such as boxes weighing up to forty (40) pounds; and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum of two (2) years related distribution experience and/or training
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Required to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language
