Job summary

Starr is seeking a Manager of Database Administration to lead global SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Fabric platforms, ensuring security, governance, and high availability. You will mentor offshore DBAs, steer ETL and scheduling deployments, and drive modernization initiatives across on-prem and cloud environments.

The role requires 8+ years of enterprise DB experience, 3+ years of leadership, and a strong track record in regulated industries, delivering reliable data solutions across global teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on database administration for enterprise-scale Microsoft data platforms.
• 3+ years of leading technical teams, including offshore resources.
• Experience in highly regulated environments, preferably within Property & Casualty insurance or financial services.
• Strong expertise with SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and Microsoft Fabric administration.

Responsibilities

• Lead administration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of enterprise SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and Microsoft Fabric data platforms.
• Manage database availability, performance tuning, capacity planning, backup/recovery, DR, and high availability.
• Provide leadership to offshore DBAs, including workload management and mentoring.
• Establish and enforce database administration standards, policies, and procedures.
• Own security, auditing, encryption, and compliance for databases across environments.
• Oversee ETL and scheduling tooling (Informatica, SSIS, Skybot) and related deployments.
• Drive platform modernization, cloud adoption, and governance initiatives.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, DataOps, Infrastructure, Security, Governance, and App Development teams.
