Job summary

Gopuff is seeking a Principal Data Scientist, Consumer, to lead the personalization stack across home feed, search, carts, and CRM. You will design, ship, and optimize recommendation, ranking, and agentic AI models at scale, guiding experiments and productionizing pipelines.

You will mentor senior data scientists, collaborate with product and engineering leaders, and shape the roadmap for how AI and ML drive growth, margins, and customer experience across our instant commerce platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data science or ML, or 8+ years with a PhD in a quantitative field.
• Track record shipping recommendation, ranking, or personalization systems at scale.
• Deep knowledge of classic ML methods and learning-to-rank.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI systems and LLMs.
• Expert Python skills and fluency with core ML stack.
• Strong SQL and data warehouse experience, Snowflake.
• Ability to review, test, and validate AI-generated code and protect data.
• Proven ability to lead technically across teams and mentor others.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical partners, including executives.

Responsibilities

• Own consumer personalization end to end across home, search, product pages, cart, and CRM.
• Build recommender and ranker systems with scalable architectures.
• Lead agentic AI initiatives and evaluate tool use, retrieval, and guardrails.
• Blend traditional ML with LLM approaches and productionize them.
• Design rigorous experiments and connect model gains to business outcomes.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams on pipelines and monitoring.
• Mentor senior data scientists and shape team standards.
• Set roadmap priorities with Product and Engineering leaders.
