Job summary

ParetoHealth is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to independently own applied AI and data science workstreams translating complex healthcare data into measurable improvements in risk selection, pricing accuracy, and underwriting experience.

You will drive model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and governance while collaborating with VP-level stakeholders to align with ParetoPredict roadmaps and business impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, CS, Math, Engineering or related quantitative field.
• 8+ years in data science, ML, statistics in healthcare, insurance risk or sensitive longitudinal data.
• Strong Python and SQL, experience with scikit-learn, XGBoost, GBMs; PySpark preferred; PyTorch a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end predictive underwriting and pricing workstreams from framing to deployment and monitoring.
• Develop, compare, and validate models with rigorous evaluation and governance.
• Translate model outputs into actionable business recommendations and measurable impact.
