Job summary

Rivian's AI team within the Analytics function of the Customer organization is seeking a Staff/Lead Data Scientist focused on Context Engineering. You will own ontologies, semantic models, identity resolution, and the retrieval architecture that unifies Marketing, Sales, and Fulfillment data for AI agents.

This foundational role requires data architecture, knowledge engineering, and applied AI expertise, partnering with Data Platform, MarTech, and the broader Analytics team to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field; Master’s preferred.
• 8+ years in Data Architecture, Systems/Data Engineering.
• Experience building semantic layers, knowledge graphs, or data ontologies.
• Ability to translate business rules into structured data definitions for LLMs.
• Strong architectural vision and systems thinking.

Responsibilities

• Design and own the semantic layer and ontology across Marketing, Sales, and Fulfillment.
• Architect a unified Customer 360 schema tying data sources into AI-ready datasets.
• Design the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) infrastructure for efficient data access.
• Build identity resolution and conversation state for persistent customer context.
• Create the API and tooling layer enabling secure AI task execution across platforms.
