Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Lead Data Scientist within the Cloud Analytics Engineering team to drive electrification and analytics initiatives for strategic business areas.
You will lead projects, apply advanced statistics and ML, and mentor junior information scientists while solving complex problems for Caterpillar's customers and dealers. Strong domain knowledge of heavy equipment and experience with cloud technologies are expected to enable impactful analytics, dashboards, and scalable
Qualifications
- Knowledge of statistical tools and practices to describe business results.
- Strong mathematical and analytical reasoning for problem solving.
- Experience with ML techniques and model development.
- Proficiency in programming for data analytics tasks.
- Ability to access and query data from databases and data warehouses.
- Skill in eliciting and specifying business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional analytics projects and guide technical direction.
- Apply statistical and digital methods to solve business problems.
- Participate on multiple projects concurrently.
- Maintain knowledge of Caterpillar products, processes and external factors.
- Research and apply new methods to exceed customer expectations.
- Develop decision-ready outputs including visualizations and summaries.
