Job summary
Walmart is seeking a Principal Software (Data) Engineer to lead the evolution of our Data Lake and enterprise data platform. You will architect and implement scalable, reliable data systems, partner with teams across engineering, product, analytics, ML, and infra, and drive AI-enabled data enablement for productivity and operations.
You will design and operate pipelines, event streaming apps, and large-scale platforms for analytics and AI-driven experiences, while mentoring teams and shaping
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field with 5 years’ software engineering experience.
- 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Responsibilities
- Lead large, cross-functional engineering projects from requirements gathering through design and delivery.
- Provide technical leadership, collaboration, and clear communication across teams.
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure quality and architectural alignment.
- Design scalable, high-availability data platforms.
- Mentor others and drive continuous improvement.
- Work in cloud-native environments.
- Build AI-ready, discoverable data foundations.
