Job summary

Southern Power is seeking an Engineer/Analyst to serve as Data Historian System Administrator for the M&D Center in Birmingham, AL. The role owns day-to-day administration of AVEVA PI and AspenTech IP.21, ensures data quality, security, and scalable infrastructure for the SPC fleet of energy assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Instrumentation & Controls) or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with AVEVA PI and AF; 2+ years in system administration.

Responsibilities

• Owns administration of AVEVA PI and AspenTech IP.21 environments; health, security, backup and access control.
• Monitor platform availability, performance, and capacity planning for fleet growth.
• Plan and execute upgrades, patches, migrations with minimal disruption; verify data integrity.
