Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Jersey City, NJ, within the Credit Risk Technology group. You will be a core technical contributor delivering trusted, scalable technology products and leading modernization efforts across the stack.

You will design and implement production-grade code, review teammates’ work, and drive architecture discussions with stakeholders, vendors, and teams, while promoting a culture of inclusion and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced proficiency in Java or Python
• Strong knowledge of relational databases/ Transact SQL (Oracle/Sybase/SQL Server)
• Strong Knowledge of Databricks
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle

Responsibilities

• Executes innovative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Leads modernization and upgrade of the Credit Risk technology stack in accordance with industry best practices
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Identifies opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability of software applications
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to probe architectural designs and applicability
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote new technologies
• Supports a diverse, inclusive team culture
