Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Principal Developer, Oncology Data & AI Systems to lead data engineering efforts across clinical and pre-clinical R&D. You will design scalable data pipelines, ensure data quality and governance, and enable AI-ready datasets for advanced analytics.

Location options include Cambridge, MA; Spring House, PA; Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; or San Diego, CA with no remote option. 5+ years of data engineering in healthcare is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
5+ years of data engineering experience in healthcare or similar.
Proficient in Python, R, SQL for data processing and automation.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms, preferably AWS.
Experience with multiple data storage patterns (relational, NoSQL, graph).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to troubleshoot pipelines.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end data product design and lifecycle management.
Build and optimize data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into engineering solutions.
Ensure data governance, lineage, metadata, and quality controls.
Enable scalable analytics, ML/GenAI applications, and reproducible workflows.
