Job summary

MANTECH in Herndon, VA is seeking a motivated Lead Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Data, AI, and Automation team. This hybrid role requires 2-3 days onsite to design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and a modern data lakehouse architecture.

You will mentor teammates, optimize data models, and collaborate with analytics engineers to enable AI applications. A strong background in SQL, cloud platforms, and data quality tooling is essential. 7+ years of experience expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of data engineering experience with at least 2+ years leading engineering initiatives.
• Proven experience integrating enterprise systems via connectors or APIs.
• Hands-on data lakehouse architecture experience and strong SQL skills.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms and orchestration tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Develop/update data warehouse schema for reporting and analytics.
• Lead tooling strategy and implement analytics platforms.
• Drive migration to a modern data lakehouse and semantic model.
• Implement data quality, lineage, and observability.
• Support real-time alerts and executive intelligence for KPIs.
• Mentor teammates on best practices and data flows for ML/AI.
