Job summary

State Bar of California is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to modernize its data infrastructure using Microsoft cloud technologies. You will lead scalable data pipelines, govern data, and drive cross-functional data solutions to support analytics, AI, compliance, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership in cloud data architectures, strong SQL, and experience with Azure data services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related field required.
• Five years of advanced journey-level information systems experience with at least one year in a lead capacity.
• Experience building scalable, cloud-based data solutions and data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, and privacy standards.
• Microsoft certifications (Azure Data Engineer, Power BI, Azure Solutions Architect) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines using Azure data services.
• Drive end-to-end data workflows and real-time data integration with external systems.
• Direct enterprise data modeling to support reporting, dashboards, and analytics.
• Collaborate with IT and business teams to gather requirements and document data dictionaries.
• Oversee enhancements of Azure-based data architecture for scalability and maintainability.
