Job summary

Blue Shield of CA is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate complex data pipelines and cloud data solutions for the enterprise. This hands‑on technical leader will mentor teams, drive production readiness and security, implement automation, and ensure reliability across data products using Azure, Synapse, Databricks, Airflow, and the broader data stack.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant data engineering experience.
• Hands-on SQL scripting and automation.
• Experience with Azure cloud services (ADLS, Synapse, Data Factory).
• Experience with dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow or Tidal.
• Knowledge of Data Vault 2.0, data integration, architecture, warehousing and quality.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket, GitHub).
• Strong Agile delivery and enterprise cloud integration.
• Excellent communication to translate technical solutions for non-technical stakeholders.
• Healthcare or regulated environments, Epic exposure preferred.
• Awareness of data governance, security standards, and production certification processes.
