Job summary

Chipotle Mexican Grill is seeking a Lead Engineer, Data Engineering to drive design and delivery of data platforms across cloud and on‑prem environments. You will guide data modeling, pipelines, and governance while coaching teammates and coordinating across disciplines.

The role emphasizes end‑to‑end data solutions, architecture reviews, and collaboration with data scientists and enterprise teams to realize scalable, reliable data products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant work experience (or equivalent).
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Stack – SSIS/SSAS/SQL Server.
• 2+ years experience with Cloud platform technologies, particularly Azure Services (ADLS, ADF), Snowflake, DBT, FiveTran.
• Experience with MPP platform and data modernization initiatives using PaaS/SaaS services.
• Experience with data models (relational, Star schema, Data vault, Document).
• Experience working with CI/CD tooling using Azure DevOps.
• Strong analytical skills, ability to analyze raw data and develop actionable recommendations.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage in technology discovery and implementation for both our Cloud and on‑prem platforms.
• Assist in leading code reviews, champion best practices and standards, and support team members through coaching, troubleshooting, and training.
• Provide logical and physical data design, and database modeling.
• Provide end‑to‑end support for solution integration (Data Pipelines), including design, development, deployment, and support.
• Perform gap analysis on current state and help define the new data architecture.
• Manage code versions and deployment processes in source control and coordinate changes across teams.
• Participate in architectural design and discussions to evaluate new technology, patterns and processes.
• Work with team members to solve complex data issues around data integration, unusable data elements, unstructured data sets, and other data processing incidents.
• Partner with enterprise teams, data scientists, and architects to define design requirements and solutions.
