Job summary

Bank of Montreal is seeking a Lead Data Engineer for the Applied AI Data Ingestion & Integration (DII) team in Chicago to accelerate AI and analytics capabilities across the enterprise. You will design and deploy scalable data pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, partnering with data scientists and product owners to deliver AI-ready data assets.

As a technical leader, you will mentor engineers, drive governance and security, and champion responsible AI practices

Qualifications

8-10 years of experience in Data Engineering or related analytics.
3+ years experience as a Technical Delivery leader.
Strong SQL, Python, and experience with large-scale datasets.
Experience with cloud data platforms and data governance.
Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
Experience in financial services is a plus.
Knowledge of Responsible AI or model governance is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead data onboarding, ingestion, and integration initiatives for AI and analytics.
Translate business needs into data requirements, models, and integration strategies.
Design scalable data ingestion pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
Ensure governance, security, and data lineage across pipelines.
Collaborate with product owners, data scientists, and stakeholders.
Mentor engineers and drive automation and reliability improvements.
