Job description

Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first

Healthcare Quality Reporting & Improvement (HQRI) delivers integrated risk adjustment (RA) and quality (Stars) solutions that leverage data and technology to empower members, providers, and Humana. The Member & Provider Analytics organization (MPA) within HQRI's Technology and Analytics (HTA) group is developing a new delivery model that incorporates principles of Large-Scale Scrum, dedicated Partnership Leaders, and collective Product Ownership. MPA operates with a spirit of shared success, aiming to help business partners maximize the effectiveness and accuracy of their programs to improve member care, health outcomes, provider partnerships, and the financing of benefits for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries.

The Lead Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain data processing architectures and solutions that enable the efficient conversion of structured and unstructured data into insights at an enterprise scale. The role involves complex analysis requiring an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The candidate will build relationships within MPA and with customers to understand business needs and expectations, delivering reliable and timely solutions for ingesting and transforming large data sets from disparate sources using cloud-native platforms and best practices.

Key responsibilities include establishing goals aligned with culture and business objectives, creating scalable data engineering solutions, evaluating existing solutions, contributing to cloud-based BI platform migration, maintaining data analytics platforms, leading and mentoring team members, collaborating on architecture and visualization techniques, optimizing code, and proposing technology stack improvements.

Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree or 8+ years of technical experience in data analysis, strong SQL and ETL skills, experience with cloud platforms (ADLS/Databricks/ADF/ASA, Snowflake), proficiency in T-SQL, Python, Pyspark, and PySQL, and excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.

Preferred qualifications encompass familiarity with Oracle, SAS, multi-cloud environments, understanding of query optimization, and experience with CMS Stars and Risk Adjustment programs. Knowledge of Humana's policies and compliance is also advantageous.

This is a remote position, with occasional travel to Humana offices. The annual salary range is $129,300 - $177,800, plus bonus potential. Humana offers comprehensive benefits supporting whole-person well-being, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, disability, and life insurance.
