Job summary

Hudson River Trading is seeking a Research Data Expert to join our Data team. You will own a specific data domain, mentor junior data engineers, and collaborate with researchers to build and maintain trading data pipelines that drive modeling, research, and risk management.

You will oversee end-to-end data flows from vendor downloads to trading-ready datasets, providing fully featurized data for statistical modeling and ensuring high data quality through checks and alerts.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python or R and data science methodologies.
• 5+ years in a dedicated data domain (e.g., alternative data, fundamentals, security reference, or economic data).
• Demonstrated ability to build alpha through data analysis.
• Undergraduate STEM degree required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain fully featurized datasets for statistical modeling research.
• Serve as SME for a designated data domain.
• Provide guidance to researchers on vendor data and derived datasets.
• Mentor junior data engineers and validate their outputs.
• Collaborate with sourcing to identify data procurement opportunities.
• Analyze data to identify and improve alpha.
• Manage end-to-end data pipelines from ingestion to refined feature sets.
• Provide on-call support for data issues during business hours.
• Design automated data quality checks and monitoring alerts.
