Job summary

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a Data Strategist to identify, evaluate, and acquire differentiated datasets that support quantitative research and systematic trading.

You will work closely with vendors, brokers, exchanges, and other counterparties to uncover useful data sources, assess their relevance, and drive commercial discussions, collaborating with research and technology teams to ensure dataset fit and value.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data sourcing, market data, broker data, quantitative research data, vendor management, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of data sources, dataset evaluation, and how data can be used in a quantitative research or systematic trading context.
  • Experience working with external counterparties and internal research, legal, business, and technology teams.
  • Meticulously detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including proficiency with Python, SQL, or similar tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and acquire differentiated datasets from vendors, brokers, exchanges, and other counterparties
  • Proactively hunt for new data sources, relationships, and content that may create value
  • Build and develop a network of relationships with data providers and other market participants
  • Lead commercial discussions and data agreement negotiations
  • Collaborate with research and technology teams to assess dataset fit and value
  • Drive ongoing data sourcing initiatives in priority domains, developing expertise in providers, use cases, gaps, and opportunities
