Job summary

Thurn Partners Ltd in New York is seeking a senior data professional to own a defined data area from sourcing through to clean, ready-to-use datasets. You will advise colleagues on both raw and processed data, and build checks that keep pipelines reliable while mentoring junior team members.

You will collaborate with a dedicated sourcing function to identify new data opportunities and apply domain knowledge to boost data quality as a competitive edge.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience with a specific category of data: alternative data, fundamentals, reference data, or macro/economic data.
• Strong Python or R skills, with a genuine grounding in data science methodology rather than scripting alone.
• A demonstrated track record of generating insight through data analysis, not just delivering clean data.
• Comfortable mentoring others and holding a high standard on detail.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of a specific data area, from identifying and assessing new sources through to producing clean, ready-to-use datasets.
• Act as the point of reference for colleagues working with data in your area, advising on both raw and processed datasets.
• Build and maintain the checks that keep a pipeline reliable, and step in when issues arise.
• Support and guide more junior members of the team, reviewing their work.
• Work alongside a dedicated sourcing function to help assess new data opportunities.
• Use your domain knowledge to help identify where data quality itself can create an edge.
