Job summary

Trane Technologies in Lexington, KY is seeking an engineering leader to head the VCDC Pod. You will oversee product engineering, guide a team of engineers and designers, and ensure timely, quality execution across bid support, BOMs, modeling, and manufacturing release.

You will drive production and field support, champion design improvements, and collaborate across engineering, operations, and product management to deliver high‑performing HVAC systems while pursuing year‑over‑year margin gains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in design engineering is required.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading a team of engineers, is preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time is required.
• Strong technical expertise in product design engineering and product support.
• Experience leading engineering activities for configured‑to‑order or engineered‑to‑order products.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, product documentation, bills of material, and CAD/model‑based design processes.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional efforts across engineering, design, operations, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of Product Engineering for the VCDC Pod.
• Develop and guide a team of engineers and designers with clear direction.
• Manage performance, provide feedback, and plan development.
• Coach, mentor, and train to build team capability and effectiveness.
• Partner on hiring, onboarding, and people‑related matters.
• Foster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and results.
• Align resources to meet priorities and support employee growth.
• Support bid, submittals, BOM development, and model generation.
• Provide technical leadership for production and field support for VCDC orders.
• Drive design improvements for performance and manufacturability.
• Identify opportunities for year‑over‑year margin improvement.
• Collaborate on drawings, models, documentation, and configurations.
• Resolve issues with operations, quality, manufacturing, and product management.
• Lead engineering changes and documentation updates.
• Support root cause analysis for design, quality, and reliability issues.
• Prioritize and execute larger product enhancement projects.
• Ensure deliverables are high quality and timely.
