Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a Lead Data Center Electrical Engineer to design, build, operate, and maintain high‑capacity power systems for AI training campuses in Memphis, TN. You will lead a small on‑site team, interfacing with compute, mechanical, and commissioning groups to scale complex power infrastructure.

You will own the electrical architecture, drive design reviews, and ensure safety and reliability across halls. Travel to other sites is possible as demand requires.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of electrical power design experience, focusing on high‑power or mission‑critical systems.
• Experience owning medium‑voltage distribution architecture (10–35 kV).
• Candidate may hold PE license or intend to pursue it.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical architecture from medium‑voltage bus to GPU rack, including topology and redundancy.
• Defend redundancy basis and evaluate split‑feed and cross‑feed schemes.
• Set campus electrical design standards: tagging, drawings, insulation coordination, grounding, arc‑flash boundaries.
• Coordinate with compute team on rack density, power capping, and utilization vs. nameplate.
• Interface with mechanical on CDU, sidecar, and pump loads and their impact on hall demand.
• Lead design reviews with EPCs, OEMs, and owner’s engineers; approve vendor drawings and FAT procedures.
• Direct Design, Commissioning, R&D, BIM/Designer, and Protection & Controls engineers.
• Collaborate with Transmission & Distribution and Battery Storage leads to stay on a single model of record.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 70, 70B, 70E, NESC, and IEEE standards; emphasize safety and excellence.
