Job summary

NorthMark Compute & Cloud in Dallas, TX seeks a Data Center Design and Build Engineer to oversee end-to-end planning, design and construction of data center facilities. Collaborate with clients to meet requirements while following industry best practices for scalable deployments.

The role involves leading design, cabling, power planning and coordination with vendors, with emphasis on efficient, compliant, and future-ready infrastructure for HPC and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, IT or equivalent experience.
• Experience in data center design, construction or IT infra deployment.
• Knowledge of power and cooling solutions for data centers.
• Proficiency in structured cabling design and network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead custom data center design solutions ensuring efficient layouts.
• Develop structured cabling designs for current and future needs.
• Create power and capacity planning strategies for efficiency and scalability.
• Ensure designs meet Uptime Institute Tier standards and best practices.
• Oversee design and implementation of network and IT infrastructure for high-performance environments.
• Provide expertise in cabling, power distribution and cooling strategies.
• Develop relocation plans to minimize disruption during migrations.
• Manage data center build-outs from conception to completion within budget and schedule.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors to procure and deploy infrastructure.
• Implement modular construction methods for faster deployments.
• Maintain vendor-neutrality to match client needs.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry certifications.
• Conduct risk assessments and plan for business continuity and disaster recovery.
• Document and maintain best practices for safety and operations.
• Engage with clients to understand requirements and provide customized solutions.
• Offer strategic consulting on migrations, expansions and modernization projects.
