Job summary

Cornerstone Defense LLC is seeking a Lead Cyber Systems Engineer in Linthicum Heights, MD. The role requires an Active TS/SCI with Polygraph and involves leading senior engineers to conduct cybersecurity assessments of large DoD systems and to ensure security requirements are properly implemented.

The position offers a high compensation package and opportunities to shape defense-level cybersecurity strategies, with a focus on risk management, vulnerability assessment, and secure systems design.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of system engineering experience (BS degree adds 4 years, MS adds 2 years).
• Relevant BS degree in STEM field.
• 6 years as a system engineering lead, with experience managing and collaborating with diverse organizations and teams.
• Zero Trust experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform cybersecurity assessments of large-scale DoD systems, utilizing an Offensive Cyber Operations mindset to conduct Defensive Cyber Operations activities.
• Conduct long-term, in-depth vulnerability assessments leveraging systems engineering principles and knowledge, utilizing available information such as architecture diagrams, build specifications, design documentation, and system architecture.
• Perform independent verification and validation of security requirements and capabilities, and incorporate systems resiliency and security engineering concepts into acquisition documents (e.g., Performance Work Statements).
• Evaluate contractor proposals for systems resiliency, security, and cybersecurity considerations.
• Lead senior system engineers, ensuring their skills are fully utilized and encouraging them to exceed technical performance expectations; contribute to building a strong team with depth in the system engineering process across mission areas.
• Leverage interpersonal skills to foster relationships with customers, gaining insights, information, and documentation to enhance mission execution.

• Perform cybersecurity assessments of large‑scale DOD systems, utilizing an OCO (Offensive Cyber Operations) mindset to conduct DCO (Defensive Cyber Operations) activities.
• Conduct long‑term, in‑depth vulnerability assessments leveraging systems engineering principles and knowledge, utilizing available information such as architecture diagrams, build specifications, design documentation, and system architecture.
• Perform independent verification and validation of security requirements and capabilities, and incorporate systems resiliency and security engineering concepts into acquisition documents (e.g., Performance Work Statements).
