Job summary

Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge is seeking a Custodian 3 - Lead to supervise a staff of custodians, schedule daily work, and maintain high cleanliness and safety standards across Louise Garig Hall. The role requires on-call emergency duty and weekend coverage to support essential campus operations.

The Lead position emphasizes training new staff, maintaining supplies, and coordinating with the supervisor to ensure smooth facility operations for residential housing and event spaces.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
• Must be capable of walking around a 10,000 square foot building multiple times daily and be able to ascend and descend the stairs of a 5 story building multiple times daily and stand for extended period of time.
• Be capable to stoop, kneel, and crouch. Pre-employment physical examination required per FASOP HR-04.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned supervisor in managing employees and scheduling work times.
• Maintain environmental standards and oversee property and equipment management.
• Support for conference housing and general care of facilities.
• Communicate via email, use MAXIMO work order system, and maintain personnel records.
• Lead a staff of +15 custodians, schedule daily work and assign areas of responsibility in the absence of other supervisors.
• Participate in on-call team and weekend supervisor rotations.
