Job summary

The South Dakota Science and Technology Authority (SDSTA) owns and operates the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF). We are seeking a Custodian Lead to oversee custodial operations, supervise staff, schedule assignments, perform cleaning tasks, and maintain supply inventory in a safe environment.

The role also includes training custodial staff, operating power equipment, basic groundskeeping, monitoring safety programs, and collaborating with management to ensure efficient operations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum two years of custodial experience.
• Minimum one year in a supervisory/leadership role.
• Strong leadership and team coordination.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and maintenance techniques.
• Familiarity with chemical safety regulations and handling hazardous materials.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to guide, train and mentor custodial staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervise custodial staff and coordinate tasks.
• Perform heavy cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Monitor inventory and submit supply requests.
