A leading company in the Inland Empire is seeking a Lead Custodian to maintain cleanliness and appearance of their facility. The role involves overseeing custodial staff, ensuring compliance with procedures, and conducting inspections. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Custodian, the Lead Custodian works in a team environment to accomplish daily and weekly duties with the goal of maintaining the general maintenance, appearance and cleanliness of the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collaborates with team members to ensure the proper execution of all custodial duties within the assigned area, including cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing all surfaces. Provides guidance and support to custodial staff, strategically deploying team members for maximum effectiveness.
2. Oversees the setup and breakdown of events within assigned areas, collaborating with internal departments and public works management to determine custodial needs. Works scheduled events to ensure all custodial requirements are met throughout the duration.
3. Ensures assignments on work orders are completed, team members' time on projects is noted, and the work order is submitted as complete to the custodial supervisor to be closed and marked as finalized.
4. Conducts weekly inventory of equipment, products, and chemicals and submit a list to the Public Works Supervisor to ensure timely procurement to maintain operational readiness. Maintains equipment in safe and operational condition and implements necessary safety protocols, including signage for wet floors and restricted areas.
5. Upholds and enforces management-established procedures and best practices. Assists the custodial supervisor in fostering a team-based approach to completing daily, weekly, and long-term custodial projects.
6. Ensures custodial staff remain informed of relevant procedures, techniques, materials, and equipment updates. Assists in training new hires.
7. Conducts walkthrough inspections of assigned areas post-project completion to verify thoroughness and adherence to standards.
8. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
Minimum two (2) years’ experience in building maintenance and housekeeping required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Proficiency in English is required.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute ratios and percentages.
Must be able to show good judgment skills in all areas of responsibility.
Ability to apply common understanding to carry out simple one-or-two step instructions.
Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
OSHA Training background a plus.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS – ENVIRONMENT

Primary work environment is in a variety of settings.
Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and otheroffice productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings,via videoconference and over the telephone.
Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
