Job summary

SMG System Medical Group in West Virginia seeks a Lead CRNA to provide anesthetic care in collaboration with the supervising physician and anesthesia team. The Lead CRNA will supervise a subset of CRNAs, foster development through goal setting, coaching and continuing education, and partner with leadership to optimize staffing and patient care.

The role includes oversight of induction, maintenance and emergence of anesthesia, mentoring staff, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies and WVUHS

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and APRN (Nurse Anesthetist) in the State of West Virginia is required.
• Board Certified or Recertified by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
• 2 years’ experience as a CRNA

Responsibilities

• Maintains competence in airway management and use of airway adjuncts.
• Minimizes infection risks to patients and staff.
• Participates in pre-anesthetic evaluation and selection of anesthetic agents.
• Performs anesthesia techniques including IV access, invasive monitoring, analgesic blocks, endotracheal intubation and extubation.
• Monitors patient responses to anesthesia and informs the team of adverse conditions; manages induction, maintenance and emergence.
• Documents patient status in the anesthesia record.
• Ensures equipment checks and supplies are prepared before care.
• Reviews informed consent and participates in surgical pause with the team.
