Job summary

White Cap in Texas is hiring immediately for a Lead Counter Sales Associate. You will serve as the primary contact for walk-in, phone, and will-call customers, process orders, coordinate deliveries, and handle order updates.

This role requires 7+ years in counter sales or related customer-facing work, strong product knowledge in construction or industrial goods, and proficiency with ERP or sales order systems such as Oracle.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in counter sales or related customer-facing roles.
• Strong ability to handle complex customer issues and escalate when needed.
• Experience training and supporting team members in daily operations.
• Familiarity with sales order systems or ERP tools, e.g., Oracle.
• Solid understanding of construction or industrial products and applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities including order processing and in-store support.
• Proven ability to upsell and support margin goals.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates exceptional customer service to walk-in, phone, and will-call customers.
• Processes orders, arranges delivery, and updates customers on status.
• Serves as point of contact for escalation issues.
• Trains and supports new counter staff.
• Acts as liaison between supervisor and customers.
• Ensures purchase orders are completed.
• Upsells by identifying related products and promotions.
• Maintains stocked and clean merchandise displays.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong experience in counter sales, customer service, or a related customer-facing role
• Experience handling complex customer issues or escalations and driving resolution
• Ability to train and support team members while contributing to daily operations
• Proficiency with sales order systems or ERP tools (e.g., Oracle or similar)
• Solid understanding of construction or industrial products and related applications
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, including order processing, customer follow-up, and in-store support
• Proven ability to recommend products, upsell effectively, and support margin goals
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and build customer relationships
