Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Lead Counsel, Transactions and Market Compliance, to provide practical legal support to Corporate Development, Supply Chain, Finance, and other functions on U.S. and cross-border matters including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and complex commercial agreements.

This hands-on role requires senior-level judgment to balance legal risk with business objectives, excellent drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to lead multi-functional

Qualifications

• Five+ years of U.S. and global M&A, JV, and complex transactions experience.
• Experience advising on global supply chain transactions.
• Ability to register as in-house counsel if relocating.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills; sound business judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex concepts for business teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead legal workstreams on domestic and international mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, minority investments, collaborations, and JVs from diligence to post-closing integration.
• Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents and related agreements.
• Provide legal support for Ford's global supply chain, including supplier disputes and process improvements.
• Negotiate with counterparties, suppliers, and JV partners in the US and internationally.
• Advise clients and senior lawyers on risk, governance, and execution strategy.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI, automation, and legal tech to improve speed and quality of execution.
• Collaborate with legal teams globally to deliver efficient, high-quality support.
• Help manage outside counsel, budgets, and timelines.
• Contribute to templates, playbooks, and precedents to improve efficiency.
