Job summary

Sony Pictures Entertainment seeks an experienced attorney to join its Business and Legal Affairs Department in Culver City, California, as Assistant General Counsel supporting Sony Pictures Television’s CP&S and Networks divisions. You will lead product counseling, negotiate complex deals, and shape legal strategy for digital platforms and streaming services.

The role requires a J.D., 10+ years of relevant experience, and California bar admission.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active California State Bar membership or in-house counsel eligibility.
• Ten+ years at a major law firm, studio, or media/tech company; in-house preferred.
• Experience in product counseling, technology transactions, ad tech/digital advertising, privacy, licensing and IP.
• Ability to lead complex negotiations and advise senior executives.
• Independent judgment on novel issues with minimal supervision.
• Strong negotiating, drafting, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of evolving entertainment content consumption.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage many matters under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead legal advisor to senior business leaders on product, ad tech, technology and platform initiatives.
• Lead structuring, drafting and negotiation of complex content, distribution, advertising and technology deals.
• Provide product counseling throughout the product lifecycle and address legal/regulatory issues.
• Assess legal risk, escalate appropriately, and deliver clear, business-oriented guidance.
• Manage outside counsel and drive cross-functional resolution of complex matters.
• Monitor regulatory developments in digital media and translate them into practical guidance.
