Job summary

Feld Entertainment, Inc. seeks a skilled Tailor/Draper to create and recreate costumes for live entertainment. Works with Costume Shop Manager to translate designs into wearable garments and supervise construction toward deadlines.

Ideal candidate has several years in a high-volume costume shop, understands period clothing, can operate industrial sewing machines and a serger, and is willing to travel to out-of-town locations with short notice.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tailor and Draper in a high-volume costume shop.
• Ability to read, analyze and follow written instructions.
• Knowledge of period clothing and theatrical terms/directions.
• Experience operating industrial sewing machines and serger.

Responsibilities

• Translate designer ideas into wearable costumes.
• Supervise construction and ensure on-time completion.
• Prepare mock-ups for designer/Director approval.
• Direct First Hands, Cutters, Operators and Finishers as needed.
• Develop best practices in costing out costumes and repairs.
