Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an Associate Director – Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management for key data center construction projects in Northern Virginia. The role focuses on client relationships, internal team leadership, and delivering cost-control outcomes across multiple active programs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong leadership background, excellent communication, and a track record in large-scale construction, preferably with data centers and consultancy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in cost management within large-scale construction.
• Proven experience leading teams and multi-project programs.
• Data center or mission-critical construction experience preferred.
• Consultancy experience preferred.
• RICS certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen, contract knowledge, and cost control expertise.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost management services for large-scale data center construction programs.
• Manage client relationships and oversee internal teams.
• Perform quantity surveying, cost control, and change management.
• Coordinate with contractors, owners, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle.
• Ensure reporting of commercial and cost status across programs.
• Apply best practices in cost management and drive process improvements.
• Conduct staff performance reviews and develop team direction.
• Support market insights, proposals, and RFP responses.
