Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections seeks a Plumber for Tomoka Correctional Institution to install, repair, and maintain plumbing and LP gas systems essential to operations. The role includes mentoring inmates in plumbing tasks, reading blueprints, and maintaining records.

On-site work at the Daytona Beach facility is required, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of plumbing experience, or 4+ years of plumbing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year plumbing experience or 4+ years plumbing experience.
• Valid Driver’s license is required.
• Ability to supervise inmates in plumbing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems including LP gas supply, waste collection and potable water.
• Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as valves, faucets, traps, sinks, sewer lines, vents and sanitary fixtures.
• Read blueprints, plan work, and supervise inmate workers; maintain logs and reports per guidelines.
• Inspect and service boilers, tanks, and water heaters; ensure safety controls operate correctly.
• Coordinate with maintenance staff and training for inmate workers as required.
