Job summary

PLUMBER - Charlotte Correctional Institution in Punta Gorda, FL is seeking a skilled plumber to install, repair, and maintain plumbing, LP gas supply, waste collection and potable water systems inside a major correctional facility.

You will read blueprints, plan work, supervise inmates on plumbing tasks, and ensure adherence to Department guidelines. A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license are required, with 1–4 years of plumbing experience or equivalent training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus at least 1 year of plumbing experience or 4+ years of plumbing experience with substitution by trade training.
• A valid Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs installation and repair of plumbing and related systems including LP gas, waste collection and potable water.
• Maintains, repairs and inspects plumbing fixtures (valves, faucets, traps, sinks, sewer lines, vents, sanitary fixtures).
• Reads blueprints, plans and organizes work; supervises inmates on plumbing tasks and attends training.
• Repairs, replaces and checks boilers, safety devices and controls; cleans boilers, tanks and water heaters.
• Maintains records and reports per Department guidelines; ensures compliance and safety.
