Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a Physician to provide medical direction and direct patient care in a correctional facility. You will oversee clinical operations, perform examinations, diagnose medical issues, prescribe treatments, and ensure high standards of care for inmates/residents.

Responsibilities include clinical rounds, treatment planning with the health services team, and collaboration with facility staff and external providers.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of medicine.
• Must be licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional medical services to inmates/residents including examinations, diagnosing problems, prescribing medications and follow-up care.
• Provide direction in leadership for the medical program in collaboration with the Health Services Supervisor.
• Monitor and review operations and standards of care delivered to inmates/residents.
• Interview inmates/residents and make decisions on admissions.
• Make clinical rounds and participate in treatment team meetings where health plans are devised.
• Direct unit treatment operations and perform surgeries as needed, with nursing specialists' clinics for diagnosis and prescriptions.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records and audit files for documentation.
• Coordinate with facility staff, contract providers and outside agencies; support accreditation activities.
