Job summary

TerraPower seeks a Manager, Core Thermal Hydraulics Methods and Analysis to lead and develop a team responsible for creating, validating, and applying thermal-hydraulic methodologies that establish core flow and heat-transfer behavior for next-generation reactor designs.

The role requires extensive CFD/THERMAL HYDRAULICS experience, leadership of technical teams, and strong collaboration across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Mechanical, Nuclear or related engineering from an accredited university.
  • 10+ years in thermal hydraulic analysis with a B.S. or 8+ years with an advanced degree.
  • 3+ years coordinating technical teams and meeting project goals.
  • Experience in personnel management, resource loading, and career development a plus.
  • Experience interfacing with design and test disciplines.
  • Proficiency in CFD and thermal hydraulics, with STAR-CCM+ emphasis.
  • Solid understanding of thermal hydraulics and heat transfer; knowledge of sodium fast reactor is a plus.
  • Experience under QA requirements (ASME NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, ISO-9000).
  • Strong trust, integrity, communication, and teamwork.
  • Actual position starting level and title determined by qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Core TH Methods and Analysis team of analysts and code developers.
  • Participate in strategy discussions on risk, budget, goals, resources, and team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, standards, and regulatory criteria for safe operations.
  • Perform technical approvals on team deliverables for core flow and heat-transfer analyses.
  • Establish and share best practices within the team.
  • Communicate status of engineering and project priorities to stakeholders and management.
  • Oversee staffing, hiring decisions, performance reviews, compensation input, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Apply technical knowledge and engineering judgment to execute work and resolve issues.
  • Provide mentorship and support high-quality work packages.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to align designs with functional and quality requirements.
  • Support development, verification, and validation of methodologies including test planning.
  • Document analysis results and design solutions.
