Job summary

Western Alliance Bancorporation seeks a Principal Engineer I to provide SME expertise for Copilot Studio and Power Platform across Enterprise Application Services, ensuring secure, compliant, and reliable solutions. You will define guardrails, engage with security, risk, and legal teams, and mentor junior engineers while driving governance across the AI platform.

Qualifications

8+ years of related experience.
Bachelor’s degree in related field required; Masters or MBA preferred.
Leadership experience preferred.
Advanced to expert knowledge of Intelligent Automation concepts including document processing, OCR/ICR, tagging, extraction, summarization, sentiment, etc.
Advanced to expert knowledge of Generative AI and Agentic AI concepts and development practices.
Advanced to expert knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform and Copilot Studio or similar low-code automation platforms.
Advanced to expert knowledge of Financial Services or Banking.
Advanced to expert knowledge of regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations.
Advanced to expert experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects.
Excellent written and verbal communications; occasional travel.

Responsibilities

Establish governance standards, development frameworks, and procedures for Copilot Studio aligned with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, risk, and SDLC.
Define and enforce guardrails for agent development including environment strategy, solution management, and deployment processes.
Partner with EA, Information Security, Risk, Legal, and Compliance to review and approve solutions per banking regulations.
Develop and maintain governance artifacts: reference architectures, design patterns, templates, and runbooks for AI solutions.
Monitor industry trends and roadmap updates to improve platform controls and adoption strategies.
Define and implement Responsible AI controls including monitoring, data protection, and model transparency.
Establish governance for agent lifecycle management, certification, production readiness, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
Develop standards for prompt management, agent testing, knowledge source validation, and logging.
Ensure AI solutions comply with enterprise policies and regulatory obligations.
Mentor engineers and solution architects on Copilot Studio architecture and governance.
Lead communities of practice and training programs to accelerate adoption while maintaining governance.
Act as SME for Copilot Studio capabilities, guiding business and technology stakeholders.
