Overview
Why We Need Your Talents:
The Lead Cook is responsible for overseeing food handling and preparation throughout the kitchen. Your hard work and experience will assist in supervising all food preparation activities and ensuring that high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained. As a lead cook, you should be knowledgeable of various cooking techniques and have a passion for food. Ultimately, your ability to work in a fast-paced environment will demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing meal ingredients: washing, peeling, cutting, and slicing fruits and vegetables, as well as marinating meats.
- Seasoning and garnishing food, salads, soups, and sauces.
- Ensuring food items are stored at the correct temperatures.
- Keeping the cooking area clean and organized.
- Maintaining inventory and ordering food items daily.
- Ensuring the safety and security of employees and guests.
- Monitoring and adjusting performance as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to use all kitchen equipment and appliances.
- Ability to read and write basic instructions; knowledge of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Creativity in cooking and food preparation.
- Ability to read and interpret production lists, menus, and banquet event orders.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of sanitation and health department regulations for safe food handling.
A Few Must-Haves:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Culinary arts courses or equivalent experience.
- One to three years of experience as a line cook in a restaurant.
- Ability to comply with all state gaming regulations, which may include obtaining a license.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods without sitting or leaning.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach while carrying food, equipment, or waste weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift, carry, and deliver food items weighing up to 50 pounds throughout a shift.
- Ability to work around 500-degree ovens and within 40-degree walk-in refrigerators.
- Ability to stand and walk continually during a 10-hour shift.
