Job summary

Apple Rehab Farmington Valley in Plainville, CT seeks a Cook Supervisor to lead dietary staff and ensure meals meet residents' dietary needs, while collaborating with the Dietary Manager on planning, purchasing and equipment management.

This 32-hour full-time role provides opportunities to supervise, maintain high-quality meals within budget, and participate in facility events while delivering compassionate, resident-focused care.

Qualifications

• Must hold Serv Safe Manager certification
• Ability to unload and stock groceries up to 50 lbs
• Ability to read, write and understand English; perform simple math; measure and record data
• Attention to detail; good follow-through; ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to supervise and instruct others
• Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred
• Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork
• Ability to stay calm in stressful situations
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks
• Professional communication with residents, staff and families

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise dietary personnel; ensure adherence to policies and procedures
• Work with the Dietary Manager on work assignments and performance evaluations
• Oversee department in the manager's absence
• Prepare and serve meals per residents' dietary needs
• Participate in production planning, purchasing, and equipment management
• Supervise and train staff; enforce safety and sanitation standards
• Assist in planning and execution of facility-wide events
